Creating new policies, or modifying policy templates, is a quick and straightforward process. The rules can be tailored at user level to better manage how email messages are shared, stored and distributed. Integrated Email Encryption

The Clearswift SECURE Email Gateway can also be used to send and receive encrypted email in a number of different industry standard formats, namely S/MIME, PGP and also using an ad-hoc method of password protection.  Encrypted messages can be decrypted and then passed to the content inspection engine to ensure no information is leaking out inadvertently.  Flexible policies for email encryption permit messages to be encrypted by direction or by content.

Content inspection and malware protection

The Clearswift SECURE Email Gateway is equipped with the most capable content-hygiene tools. Bidirectional anti-virus and anti-malware protection is built in. This means both inbound and outgoing emails are checked for viruses and other malware.

The content of both message bodies and attachments are scanned. Deep scanning of message attachments means that the content of compressed files is examined, too. File identification is based on binary signatures, rather file names, improving accuracy and ensuring that unrecognised file types are picked up.

To prevent data leaks and damage to reputation, the Clearswift SECURE Email Gateway checks message content for compliance with your organisation’s policies. This is supported by managed lists and editable terms and compliance dictionaries. Clearswift TRUSTmanager, a technology that checks sender reputations against a constantly updated database provided by Clearswift removes 80% of spam before it reaches the gateway saving significant bandwidth.

Clearswift SpamLogic a real-time spam-detection technology then identifies and filters spam with an accuracy of 99.5%. It does this by examining the message source, content and destination, as well scanning attachments.

Default policies will filter and quarantine messages from senders with bad or suspicious reputations without impeding emails from those with neutral or good reputations. Users can be sent scheduled summary messages, enabling them to review and, if appropriate, release filtered messages.
